Alison Brie And Dave Franco Turn Airplane Rides Into Date Nights

Sharing inspiring and practical stories from around the world.

Lately, it seems like no matter what she does, Alison Brie is catching the attention of everyone. The actress caused a social media frenzy when she posted a picture working out with Brie Larson, showed off her dance moves in a surprise appearance for Beck's "Colors" music video, and announced that her hit Netflix show "Glow" would return for season three. So, with such a busy schedule, it's no surprise she loves a good vacation with husband, Dave Franco.

The couple recently took a trip to Paris and Italy and are eager to hit the road again. But, first, the 35-year-old made a stop in New York City on October 5 to host the re-launch of the American Express Gold Card, which now rewards travelers like herself and comes in a limited edition rose gold color. I was able to catch up with the star at the event where she dished to me about her travel essentials, bucket list destinations, and more.

Q: You and Dave travel a lot together. How are you two as travel buddies?

A: I feel like we have the same travel goals, which are usually to get somewhere and then do nothing. Like get somewhere beautiful and then lie around and do nothing. But we also take a lot of trips where we walk around and explore as well. I feel like we are good at that balance when we travel. We're great travel partners actually. We even like to watch the same movies at the same time on the plane.

Q: Like a mid-air date!

A: Definitely! And we're sticklers about it being really at the same. So, he has to tap both, and if it's off a little, we're like wait, pause, okay, play again!

Q: Do you have anything on your bucket list of where you want to go?

A: Japan, and we are actually going to go there pretty soon. So, I am super excited to cross that off. I would say Greece and Spain are kind of up there too, but then other places pop up all of the time. I hear such great things right now about Mexico City and South America. I have never been anywhere in South America, so I feel like there are just a ton.

Q: Do you have any go-to spots?

A: We end up pretty much going to Italy constantly. A friend got married there, work brings us there, and we have shot a movie together in Tuscany. So, it seems like for the past few years we keep getting drawn back to Italy. We want to explore all over the world but we just kind of keep ending up back there.

Q: Not a bad place to be drawn to.

A: It's the best.

Q: What are your go-tos in your carry-on bag?

A: We've been really good with carry-ons lately. Dave and I try to go carry-on only as much as possible.

Q: Why?

A: I used to be a real over packer, now I am an under packer, and I find myself having to shop when I am traveling. It's a terrible habit. I always keep a Caudalie spray in my bag, my iPad mini, which is also rose gold to match my AMEX card, and my comfy sleep socks. Those are probably my top three things.

Q: When you travel are you the type of people that bring home souvenirs for family and friends?

A: No, definitely not. [laughs] Totally selfish, only buy little things for ourselves.
